In Springfield, MO on Tuesday morning, police and firefighters were called to a home on Elm Street after a fire was reported. At first it was believed that two bodies were found burned in the home, but now it has been reported that only the body of the male resident of the home was recovered. R.L. was in his early or mid-sixties and primary reports suggest that he died from a gunshot wound. To make matters more complex, it is also believed that the fire was not an accident.
The fire was reported early Tuesday morning, at approximately 3:45 a.m. The fire itself is said to be suspicious and the area has been labeled a crime scene. Police have not released any more details regarding how the fire was started or any suspicions that they have. An autopsy is set to take place this Monday, which will hopefully shed more light on how the man died and how he sustained the injuries. The house itself has sustained severe damage from the fire.
